Stacks of Writing

I'm spending my summer vacation working on writing with the goal of getting close to finishing my novel. It's a memoir about being a midwife, growing up in St. Louis, living in the West, raising kids and finding my own identity. I have been copying and pasting sections and paragraphs from many iterations of this story to a document I've titled, "manuscript." I'm hopeful this will be "the one"; the one I can submit to other writers for feedback and to publishers who will hopefully take my story.

This writing has been years in the making and I've never gotten this far It's exciting, yet very daunting. I have no idea how the writing and book publishing world goes and I don't have deep pockets, living on a humble teacher's salary.

For now, there are piles of my writing in organized sections on my office floor, ready to be put into a cohesive, flowing and lovely order. It's no small task, but I'm determined to see this long, arduous process through and hold the final masterpiece in my own hands.
